The Onboarding Process

Once you are hired onboarding is the next step.  This process must be done promptly and you must be able to follow instructions.  By now, you should have a dedicated recruiter.  If you have any problems during this process you have to make sure you contact this asap.  With that being said, all companies may not follow the process the same.

Point of Contact

You should have gotten a point of contact in one of two ways: at the end of your interview you should have gotten a congratulations or by email a couple of hours/days later.  Having a point of contact is so important because when filling out the paperwork, if you have any problems – you will have someone to speak to.

Paperwork

This is when you fill out the offer letter saying that you accept their offer. After that they will send you contracts, NDA’s and any other paperwork that they will need.

Drug Test

All companies may not ask for a drug test.  Some make you pay for it and some don’t.  In my past, this has been a make or break situation for me.  It totally up to you if this is a step that you want to take.  These could come in different ways, some are listed below:

  • Mouth Swabs
  • Urine
  • Hair

Background, Credit, and Criminal Checks

At some point, you will one of these done.  Most of the time they are looking felons, your work history or trying to see if there are any inconsistency.
